Part of my excuse is, well, I’ve been a fairly busy with other things. Who would have thunk that, say, renovating a house from a distance (any distance – 15 or 500 miles – certainly complicates everything) while dealing with several different groups of people with various concepts of organization would be a royal pain in the butt?

But mostly, I’ve been putting off posting because I’ve been periodically working on the transfer to this. I’d consider putting up a new pic or bit of minutae, and then I’d go, “eh, just going to have to go through the effort of transferring it to the new system… don’t bother right now!” I might even work at this a bit if the mood struck me at the time. And then I’d get thrown off task by other things. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

For those with any interest – and I expect that that is an exceedingly small number of the already small number who still stops by this site (but I’m going to put keyboard to screen anyway because, well, this is my party, and I’ll cry if I want to! ) – the new look here is but the smallest part of the actual change that took place. A big reason for the switch is me wanting to change the system I use for posting the content you’re seeing. I used to use a slick little system called Textpattern, but I’ve long since lost interest in attempting to make it do the things I already know how to do with the even slicker system named WordPress.

But the main reason I switched: comment spam. For those of you not in the know about this evil, look in your email inbox. See all those nasty messages from anonymous strangers wanting to sell you a variety of loathsome objects? Some miscreants are attempting to fill the comment section of these postings with the same trash. While I’m no prude, I certainly don’t think most of what they’re selling belongs on a site about my lil’ guy. And this new system makes it almost painless to weed out the tripe while still allowing those of you throwing out legitimate comments the opportunity to do so.
